Parenting CLASSES OFFERED aT Pine rest Southwest clinic, From Survival to Success is a class that will be taught at Pine Rest Christian Mental Health Services Southwest Clinic. The 6-week series will be held on Thursdays, September 19 – October 24, 6 – 7:30 p.m., Southwest Clinic, 4211 Parkway Place SW, Suite 100, Grandville, MI 49418. It will be facilitated by William J. Rowell and Brett VanTol, both licensed psychologists.
Classes are for parents of children six to 16 years who want to learn how to raise respectful, responsible children. Cost is $90 for the series of classes. One or both parents may attend for this fee. In addition, there will be an $18 fee for the “Transforming the Difficult Child” workbook.
Parenting can be the most difficult, but potentially most rewarding challenge a person will have. Often, our own parenting experiences may not prepare us to be the kind of parent we wish to be.
Emphasizing the successes every child has and minimizing the energy given to their mistakes, negative behaviors, allows parents and others who deal with children to transform the child. Parents also find this approach transforms them from negative, rule-setting, frustrated authority figures to generous and supportive parents.
For more information or to register, interested persons should call 616/222-3700.

Hearts Alive and Free Something important happens when a man unplugs from the world of work, cell phones, ESPN, Facebook, kids and the Wall Street Journal. Our Hearts Alive & Free Weekend is a time for you to get away from the craziness of life so you can rediscover what God intended when He created you as a man in His image (Genesis 1:27).
The Weekend is a four-day quest into the recovery of your masculine heart based on the book Wild at Heart (heartsaliveandfree.org/events/the-weekend/the-message). This is not a typical men’s event. Through transparent stories of other men, teaching sessions, films, adventure activities, and guided periods of reflection, we will journey together on a daring expedition to get your masculine heart back—a heart alive and free (Psalm 119: 32; John 10:10; Galatians 5:1).
