West Michigan Christian News writer Terry DeBoer surveys the landscape for the area's faith-inspired arts/entertainment/enrichment events over the coming month. Here are three highlights for November:
*Cameron Blake – The local singer-songwriter – also a church worship music leader – performs at 7:30pm Sat. Nov. 16 at Grand Rapids' newest music venue – The Listening Room, 123 Ionia Ave SW. Blake serves at River Rock Church in Rockford. His 2017 album "Fear Not" was nominated for a local "Jammie Award" as contemporary-folk album of the year. The Listening Room is a 200-seat venue "where the noise subsides and the sound takes over. Its semi-circle seating makes for an intimate music experience. Doors open at 6pm. *"Miss Bennet: Christmas at Pemberly" – This stage-play sequel to the Jane Austen classic "Pride and Prejudice" runs from Nov. 21 to Dec. 14 at Master Arts Theatre, 75 77th St SW in Byron Township. The story picks up two years later with middle sister Mary the focus during a holiday celebration at the countryside estate of Pemberly. Curtain times are 7:30pm Thurs. through Sat. (no performance on Thanksgiving); 2pm matinees on Saturdays and on Fri Nov. 29. Tickets are $17 adults, $15 seniors and students, $8.50 for children 12 and under. *Chamber Choir of Grand Rapids – The mixed vocal ensemble, directed by Dr. Mark Webb, presents its annual Christmas concerts presenting both sacred and secular songs of the season at 7:30pm Sat. Nov. 30 and 3pm Sun. Dec. 1 in the Basilica of St. Adalbert, 654 Davis Ave. NW in Grand Rapids. The choir is "ringing in" the season with special guest the Embellish Handbell Ensemble, one of the area's top performing handbell groups.
