*This year's January Series at Calvin University is completely vitual. You can watch each of the weekday lectures (Jan. 6 to 26) online from 12:30 to 1:30pm. Among the speakers are Calvin professor Rebecca DeYoung talking about soul care for struggling Christians as she draws from her new book, "Glittering Vices." On Martin Luther King day (Jan. 18) the guest is Jemar Tisby, author of "The Color of Compromise: The Truth About the American Church's Complicity in Racism." The Calvin Institute of Christian Worship – The study/ministry center located at Calvin University hosts its annual symposium online this year, spread out from Jan. 6-26 so registrants can engage the material at their own pace. It's designed for preachers, musicians, scholars, worship leaders and planners, artists – everyone who has some kind of role or interest in Christian worship. Registration is free. Baker Books Virtual Authors Night – A "virtual visit" with author Cara Putman about her new book "Lethal Intent" is set for 7pm Tues. Jan 12, hosted by Baker Books. Despite not publishing her first book until 2005, Putman has written more than 30 novels and has received an award of merit for historical fiction. Colored by Putman's own legal background, several of her recent novels have been mystery/suspense finalists for Inspy Awards, which recognize the best in inspirational fiction. To register online.
