West Michigan Christian writer Terry DeBoer surveys the landscape for the area’s faith-based arts and entertainment events over the coming month. Here are a few December highlights:*“Women's Christmas Tea” – Susan Sorensen is the special guest at 3 p.m. Sun. Dec. 7 at Maranatha Bible Conference, 4759 Lake Harbor Road, Muskegon. Sorensen is women’s ministry coordinator at Calvary Church in Grand Rapids and co-author of the 90-day devotional “Praying Through Cancer: Set Your Heart Free From Fear” (Harper Collins). Her holiday message parallels a familiar Christmas carol. Worship leader is Sarah Whaley, chapel coordinator at Cornerstone University. *“Christmas With Selah” – The award-winning, inspirational trio performs sounds of the season at 7:30 p.m. Fri. Dec. 12 at Van Singel Fine Arts Auditorium, 8500 Burlingame Ave. SW. The ensemble has a string of Christian radio hits, and their Christmas album “Rose of Bethlehem” continues to be a favorite more than a decade after its release. The trio features Todd Smith, Amy Perry and vocalist/keyboardist Alan Todd. (See them sing the holiday favorite “O Come, O Come Emmanuel”). *Annie Moses Band – The lively string ensemble presents a concert of Christmas music in their “classical-crossover” style at 7 p.m. Dec. 20 at Grace Community Church, 3500 New Holland St. Hudsonville. Harp and other strings combine for songs such as “O Holy Night” and “Carol of the Bells” under the direction of lead singer/violinist Annie Wolaver.
