New Christmas Music Preview
Following up last year's successful multi-artist collection, here comes "Gospel Goes Christmas Vol. 2," with songs of the holiday from an almost entirely different roster of top gospel artists.A welcome addition is Marvin Sapp, a Grand Rapids pastor (Lighthouse Full Life Center Church) as well as a national recording and performing artist.
His song for the collection, "Holy," is taken from his Christmas album of two years ago, "Christmas Card."
Two highlights feature legendary artists who left their marks before passing away.
Whitney Houston, the late pop singer who cherished her gospel roots, captures "Joy To The World" backed by the Georgia Mass Choir.
And legendary singer-songwriter Andre Crouch, who died just last January, was included with his rendition of "Silent Night."
The notable artist roster includes Yolanda Adams, CeCe Winans, Fred Hammond and Israel Houghton, among others.
The CD closes with a grand rendition of "Emmanuel" done by the gigantic Brooklyn Tabernacle Choir.
And.....Resurrection Life Church in Grandville has placed a Christmas version of its song "Higher" on a new holiday compilation, "Dream Christmas Vol. 3" released by the Dream Label Group. Hear the song online. The original version of "Higher" was released last summer under the direction of Res Life worship leader Ken Reynolds.
Also, Res Life teen talent Jasmine Hurtado has a song on the "Dream" album - her version of "O Holy Night."
Other artists include Soulfire Revolution, Tommy Walker and Matthew Parker.
