West Michigan Christian News writer Terry DeBoer surveys the landscape for the area's faith-based arts and entertainment events over the coming month. Here are three highlights for December's Christmas season. Others are mentioned in his earlier article.The King's Choraliers – The male chorus presents "Good News," a sacred Christmas music program at 7:30pm Sun. Dec. 10 at LaGrave Christian Reformed Church, 107 LaGrave Ave. SE. The chorus, under the direction of Ronald Rogers, presents the holiday message in song, including some selections from its Christmas album, "Beautiful Star of Bethlehem." Special guest on the program is the Strike Percussion Ensemble, a student-based group which performs using a variety of percussion instruments. There is no admission charge. The Edelweiss Choir – The traditional German choir presents its annual Christmas concert at 3:30pm at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 423 First St. NW, Grand Rapids. Featured will be Christmas music from the German-speaking regions of Europe, joined by the Ein Prosit Band and the alphorn group Alpentraum. It's a different kind of musical experience for Christmas. There is no admission charge, a free-will offering is received at the event's conclusion. More information online.
"O Little Town" – The production of the Christmas choir at Grand Rapids Baptist Church is set for 7pm Sat. Dec. 23 and 10:30am Sun. Dec. 24 at the church, 4525 Stauffer Ave. SE Kentwood. Classic Christmas songs are featured in carrying listeners through the timeless story to the birthplace of the Savior. Free tickets are available online although not mandatory for attendance.
