Terry’s Picks: January 2018
West Michigan Christian News writer Terry DeBoer surveys the landscape for the area's faith-based arts and entertainment events over the coming month. Here are three highlights for January:*Kevin "K.O." Olusola – The member of the famed vocal group Pentatonix speaks and performs at 12:30 and 7pm Wed. Jan. 17 in the Covenant Fine Arts Center Auditorium of Calvin College in Grand Rapids. Olusola is the son of a Nigerian psychiatrist and Grenadian nurse and grew up in Kentucky learning cello, piano and saxophone before attending Yale University. It's there he developed his "celloboxing" talent (combining cello-playing and vocal beat-boxing), eventually finding his way into the Grammy-winning Pentatonix. The performances are part of Calvin's January Series, and are free of charge. For more information visit www.calvin.edu/january-series
*Vertical Worship– The ensemble performs at 7:30pm Fri. Jan 19 in Christ Chapel at Cornerstone University, 1001 E. Beltline NE in Grand Rapids. Doors open at 6:30pm.
