West Michigan Christian News writer Terry DeBoer surveys the landscape for the area's faith-related entertainment events over the coming month. Here are three highlights for July. Each is part of a greater community celebration.
Ryan Stevenson – The national, inspirational singer-songwriter performs as part of the holiday "Celebrate Freedom" event on Wed. July 4 in Kollen Park on the shores of Lake Macatawa (west of Van Raalte Ave.) in Holland. Concert is at 8:30pm, no admission charge. Celebration begins at 4pm and includes kids' activities, car show, concert and evening-concluding fireworks. Concessions available. Stevenson performed in Van Andel Arena last March as part of the TobyMac "Hits Deep" Tour. His current Christian radio hit is "No Matter What" and his signature song is "Eye of the Storm." Jason Fowler - The inspirational singer-songwriter performs for the opening night of entertainment at the National Baby Food Festival at 7pm Wed. July 18 at Veterans Memorial Park, 119 W Main St. in downtown Fremont. There is no admission charge, donations will be accepted. Fowler will be sharing his story of addiction recovery, redemption and his personal experience of God's grace. His latest album is "I Fall In." George Moss – The West Michigan urban Christian music artist performs as part of the Grand Rapids Balloon Festival, 5 to 10pm Fri. July 20 at the Hudsonville Fairgrounds, 5235 Park Ave. in Hudsonville. Festival begins at 5pm, Concert starts at 8:30pm. Festival admission is $5, no additional charge for concert. Carnival games, craft & vendor booths and hot air balloon launches also featured. See the Xpressions of Praise Christian Dance Arts Academy at 5:30pm. Some events are weather-dependent. Proceeds benefit Children's Miracle Network Hospitals / Helen Devos Children's Hospital, and the West Michigan Veterans Coalition.
