West Michigan Christian News writer Terry DeBoer surveys the landscape for the area’s faith-based arts, entertainment and conference events over the coming month. Here are three highlights for March:*Tom Coverly – The illusionist and gospel communicator performs as part of a fundraising event at 7:30p.m. Fri. March 6 at Crossroads Bible Church, 800 Scribner Ave. NW in Grand Rapids. Coverly travels throughout the country and has shared the stage with many top Christian music acts as well as speaking in school assemblies. He has also made several appearances at the Unity Christian Music Festival in Muskegon. *Anthem Lights – The Christian pop-vocal quartet performs at 6 p.m. Sun. March 22 at Grand Rapids First, 2100 44th St. SW Wyoming. The group, featuring vocalist Alan Powell, sings original songs but also has several albums of popular cover tunes. Among their hits are “I Wanna Know You Like That” and “Outta My Mind.” Check out their music videos at https://www.youtube.com/user/AnthemLights. Admission is free. *Festival of Faith and Music – The biennial conference is set for March 26-28 at Calvin College in Grand Rapids. The gathering brings together music artists, critics, journalists and others to consider music that explores issues of faith. Registration required for most sessions. There are several open-to-the-public events, including a 9 p.m. Sat. March 28 concert by Grammy-winning, faith-based artist Lecrae, who is also one of the keynote speakers. (Concert tickets are $30 for non-students). Workshops and panel discussions are also included in the festival.
